This family was deeply committed to a natural birth and prepared extensively to create the birth experience she desired. She did everything in her power to make this dream a reality. However, despite her best efforts, her baby’s head ended up in an asynclitic position, making labor much more difficult than a typical physiological labor. As a result, she was transferred to the hospital, where she faced several interventions she hadn’t anticipated. While it wasn’t the path she planned, sometimes these changes are necessary for the safety and well-being of both mother and baby. Birth can be unpredictable, and while we may not always get the experience we envision, every journey is valid and deserves to be honored.
